The brief: a new UK lab that proves every batch

Crew Labs is a UK laboratory supplier founded in 2026, selling peptides as reference material to qualified researchers. With no track record yet, the store itself had to earn trust, which left three problems to solve before launch.

01

Keep the catalogue for researchers only

No product could be seen by a visitor who had not said who they are and why they buy.

02

A report for the vial in hand

A new lab had to show the certificate for each lot, not one report for the whole product.

03

Describe the compound, never its effects

Product pages could only state chemistry, testing and handling, with no health claims.

Researchers also needed to find compounds by type: peptide reference standards, multi-compound preparations, cofactors and metabolites, small molecule compounds and lab supplies.

How we solved it

The three problems from the brief, and what we built for each one. Everything below is live on crew-labs.co.uk today.

01 Researchers only

A sign in wall in front of the whole store

The server holds back every store page until the visitor has a researcher account. Only the terms and privacy policy stay open, so anyone can read them before signing up.

  • Create an account by email or with Google
  • Research status from five options, from independent researcher to analytical laboratory
  • Age of 21 or over confirmed, terms and privacy policy accepted
  • A hidden form field, a minimum time on the form and an attempt limit keep bots out
  • Signed in researchers go straight to the catalogue, their orders and their lot certificates

02 A report for every lot

Lot pills on the product, a lookup behind them

Each product lists its lots, and every certificate also sits in one COA lookup that a researcher can search.

  • The report opens in a viewer on the product page, as an image or a PDF
  • Choose a product, or type a lot number or strength, and the list narrows as you type
  • A live count shows how many certificates match
  • Blends point to the certificates held for each compound inside them

03 Reference material

Product pages written as compound specifications

Every line is chemistry, testing or handling that a researcher can check against the certificate. This is the BPC-157 page. Select a marker to see what each part of the page does.

Classification Synthetic pentadecapeptide reference standard

Identifiers CAS 137525-51-0, C62H98N16O22, 1419.53 g/mol, PubChem CID 9941957

Purity 99% or higher by HPLC, identity by mass spectrometry

Storage Lyophilised powder at -20C, away from light and moisture

BPC-157 product page: trust strip, dispatch line, lot report pills and the compound specification table

  • Trust strip and dispatchLab verified, batch COA included and fast UK dispatch, with the 2pm same day cut off and the delivery price beside the buy button.
  • Lot report pillsEach lot shows its number, strength, a Current tag and its test date. Selecting one opens that lot's report on the page.
  • Compound specificationThe same table layout across the catalogue, ending with a note that lot values are on the certificate.

Custom development on WordPress and WooCommerce

Ten features we coded for this store, and 16 CSS snippets that restyle WordPress and WooCommerce to match the design.

Coded features

Built for this store

Custom code written for this store on top of WordPress and WooCommerce.

  • Sign in wall, Google sign in, lot report viewer and COA lookup
Custom PHP and JavaScript. The four features shown in How we solved it, above.
  • Welcome offer
Custom JavaScript. Opens a few seconds after a researcher enters, with 25% off sitewide applied at checkout and no code to type. It shows at most once a day and resets at the visitor's own midnight.
  • Checkout layout
Custom JavaScript on WooCommerce. The checkout rebuilt into headed cards, with a coupon link in place of the open field, a ship to a different address toggle and an order summary that folds away on phones.
  • Express pay first
Custom JavaScript on WooCommerce. Express pay sits above the payment list and selects the card method when tapped.
  • Pay by bank note
Custom JavaScript on WooCommerce. A note under the bank payment option that explains the trip to the banking app and back.
  • VAT notice
Custom JavaScript on WooCommerce. A line in the payment box saying VAT is added on the next payment page.
  • First option selected
Custom JavaScript. Product pages open with the first pack size already chosen, so the price and Add to cart are ready straight away.

Styled with CSS

Matched to the design

Where WordPress and WooCommerce pages were restyled to look like the rest of the store.

  • Product cards
Custom CSS on WooCommerce. A From label on every price, the old price crossed out beside the welcome price, and compact credential badges with a dark version for dark sections.
  • Homepage
Custom CSS on WordPress. Numbered section labels, the three principles cards and a table that sets what Crew Labs does against what the market typically does, with a note that it names no supplier.
  • Top bar
Custom CSS on WordPress. A scrolling strip with the research use statement, third party testing, free UK delivery over £75 and the welcome offer, which turns into one rotating line on phones.
  • Blog articles
Custom CSS on WordPress. Answer blocks, callouts, definition cards, inline references and a sources card, so each article reads like a lab note.
  • Newsletter
Custom CSS on WordPress. A one line homepage signup for a monthly letter on new assays, writing and drops.
  • Site-wide
Custom CSS on WordPress. One set of design tokens, serif headings, navigation, forms and footer across WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Plugins we set up
Configured, not coded: Omnisend for email, WooCommerce Multi Currency, YITH Wishlist, Woo Discount Rules and Site Kit.

Questions about the Crew Labs build

Who built the Crew Labs website?

Crew Labs was designed and built by Aventus Digital on WordPress and WooCommerce, including the catalogue structure, the researcher sign in wall, the lot report pills and COA lookup, the compound specification pages and the checkout layout. See more of our peptide website work.

Is the Crew Labs website MHRA compliant?

No website can be MHRA approved or MHRA compliant on its own, whatever a listing promises. What we build is research use only positioning: researcher only access, specification style product pages with no health claims and a certificate for every lot. We are a web agency, not a law firm, so the store owner stays responsible for regulatory compliance and should take independent legal advice.

How much does a peptide store like this cost?

Our e-commerce stores start from £399, with a mid-tier option at £599. A full custom build like Crew Labs, with a researcher sign in wall, a searchable COA lookup and specification product pages, falls into our Flagship tier from £1,999. Full details are on our pricing page.

Can you build a store like this for the US market?

Yes. Crew Labs sells from the UK and already shows prices in pounds, euros, US dollars and Canadian dollars. For a US store, we shape the product language around FDA and FTC rules rather than MHRA wording, and advise on payment processors that accept research peptide sellers.
